Sephora by OPI Make The First Mauve Swatch + Review

Make The First Mauve is a new, online only shade available from Sephora by OPI. It's described as a "shimmering lavender-lilac" on Sephora's website. I have been looking for a shade exactly like this description, since I love all things purple, and I ordered it the day I saw it online.

I think the people at Sephora.com may be a little color blind or something, because the color isn't really lavender or lilac at all. It's a muted, greyed light purple with very fine silver shimmer (which you really only see in sunlight) - basically Metro Chic's lighter, pearlier sister:

Make The First Mauve is soft, subtle, and office appropriate; the formula was nice and smooth, and not too thick. I used two coats for the above picture. It's pretty, and cool, and I can see it looking nice with a lot of outfits, but it's not exactly what I think of when I think of a color "for the fearless and the fashionable", which is what Suzi Weiss-Fischmann (Artistic Director of OPI) describes it as. I thought it would pack more punch, and personally I wanted something more purple...like a darker, more lavender version of Zoya Pandora. Or something like that! My search for a perfect lavender continues...
